Scott Shields is a composer, songwriter and producer.
Living and working in Glasgow from his newly built studio, Scott has most recently completed the score for the Lionsgate feature ‘ENDANGERED SPECIES’ directed by M.J. Bassett and due for release in May this year. Also marked for release in 2021 is the heartwarming feature documentary ‘MEN WHO SING’ directed by Dylan Williams, premiering at Sheffield Doc Fest in the summer.
Last year Scott delivered the score for ‘ROGUE’, starring Megan Fox, also directed by M.J. Bassett who Scott first collaborated with on the Cinemax flagship series ‘STRIKEBACK’ – for which Scott has composed the music since it’s conception in 2010. ‘VENDETTA’, the final series, was completed and aired worldwide early in 2020.
A pioneering crossover artist Scott enjoyed great success in the music industry, most famously as writing/production partner of Joe Strummer in his band The Mescaleros, before establishing himself as a pan-genre film score composer.
Over the past 15 years Scott has worked with many acclaimed film industry figures, composing and programming for feature films including the No.1 US box office hit ‘Kick Ass’, the Wachowski Brothers’ martial arts epic ‘Ninja Assassin’, ‘Stardust’, directed by Matthew Vaughn, and the multi award-winning ‘Strength and Honour’, directed by Mark Mahon.
Scott co-wrote the Oscar short listed song ‘Only You’, performed by Sinead O’Connor, and has provided feature songs and bespoke soundtrack material for many hit films such as ‘Black Hawk Down’, ‘The Diving Bell and the Butterfly’, ‘Battle for Haditha’, ‘Mike Basset England Manager’ and ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’.
